My Biography

Here’s some info about me, Winter! I have a lovely temperament and get along well with other dogs. My humans take me to the dog park, where I love interacting and playing with all my canine pals. I’m quite the active pup, so I need regular exercise, ideally in the morning and afternoon. Without it, I might get a little restless and start chewing on things I shouldn’t.

I usually walk well on the leash, but sometimes I pull, especially if other dogs are barking. It can be a bit overwhelming! My humans are helping me with this, and I’m getting better. With some consistent training, I think I’ll become even more well-behaved. I already know how to sit, shake, and wait patiently for my meals.

I do feel anxious when left alone. My humans are working on it, but I’d really thrive with someone who works from home because being by myself for long stretches isn’t my favourite. During the day, I enjoy relaxing and napping. I absolutely love chewing on a good rope toy! I’m mostly an indoor dog but get regular outdoor time. I’m well house-trained and sleep through the night, though I do love snuggling and prefer to sleep in the bed.

One thing to note: I might jump when I get excited, so I might not be the best fit for families with young children.

Here’s a look at my typical day:
– 4:30 AM: 1.5 km walk (at a slow pace for me, as my buddy Baxter joins us)
– 5:00 AM: Breakfast time!
– 7:00 AM: A fast-paced 2 km walk
– 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM: I’m very relaxed; mostly sleeping, playing with some toys, and occasionally running around in the yard
– 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Visit to the dog park
– 5:30 PM: Dinner
– 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM: Chilling out or running around with other dogs, playing with toys
– 8:00 PM: Bedtime; I sleep soundly until 4:00 AM, though I’d probably sleep longer if I wasn’t woken up then.

CQASI Adoption Policy

All adoption enquiries must be submitted via our adoption form. Due to the high volume of animals on death row, our own families, and paid jobs, we endeavour to answer your enquiry as quickly as possible.

We encourage all adopters to meet their new addition before committing to adoption. This gives you a chance to see if the animal might be a good fit, and also to introduce them to your other animals. Just like we don’t expect all humans to get along, we expect the same for animals.

All our adoptions tend to be local, but we have connections all over QLD so are more than happy to consider all serious adoption enquiries. A house/yard check will be done if we can get a local member (if adoption enquiry is not Rockhampton based) to assist.

All our animals have a two week trial period. This gives your new addition time to settle into your family life and to give you a chance to ensure they are exactly what you want. If they are not settling in then we will arrange to take them back into care and you will be refunded the adoption fee. If after the two weeks they are exactly what you dreamed then we will send you all their paperwork including sterilisation certificate, vaccination certificate and microchip transfer form.

Please note that we will be treating any potential adoption with the upmost care as the animals safety and welfare is our number one priority.
