My Biography

Hi all you dog lovers, my name is Polly!

I am a big bouncing girl who is still grasping the concept “don’t jump”. I just can’t help but leap up at my humans when they come outside. There is no nastiness intended but my big claws have left my old carer with a few scars and my weight has made her stumble. Her response is “oh, for heaven’s sake Polly is 5 minutes since you last seen me, just Calm the Farm pleaseee”.

I was adopted at 12 weeks and in the three months I was with my mum I was spoilt rotten and very quickly became ruler of the house. While this was heaven for me it became hell for her and 4 months later, I found myself back in care. So truthfully, it is only now that I am beginning to grasp the concept of common of commands. My foster dad is firm and consistent which has seen some huge improvements in my behavior.
.
I think the most important thing you need to remember is that despite my solid athletic build, I am only 8 months old and still very much an excitable puppy. My foster dad with 40 years of working with cattle dogs says that sweethearts like me are at least 2 years of age before their brain fully kicks into gear. Gotta love this man’s honesty, and I fully intend to prove him wrong.

I absolutely love all humans and doggies of all shapes and sizes. There is not a malice bone or thought in my body. It’s just not in me to be unkind or nasty. I met a 6-month-old baby girl yesterday and I had her giggling in a heartbeat. A little wet nose on her hand and my quick face licks had her in fits of laughter. And of course, all that joy got me excited, and I couldn’t help myself. I jumped up to snuggle in, but that’s a firm no no and yes I did get in trouble. My size is my worst enemy, however I am hoping there is a young energetic family out there who will look past my size and see the love and loyalty I have to give to all.

Insider information: The quickest way to tire me out is to turn the hose on and have me chase the water. I am not allowed inside here but I was an indoor/outdoor doggy at my old home and was house trained. You will only have to ask me once to join you on the couch or bed, but I do understand that not for everyone.

On a final note, I would like you to know that the 20 plus family & friends of all ages who have met me have all said the same thing.

She is such a beautiful natured sweetheart who just needs a family who is consistent with rules & expectations.

If you have the time to work with me, I promise I will be the best decision you have ever made.

I can’t wait to meet my furever family.

CQASI Adoption Policy

All adoption enquiries must be submitted via our adoption form. Due to the high volume of animals on death row, our own families, and paid jobs, we endeavour to answer your enquiry as quickly as possible.

We encourage all adopters to meet their new addition before committing to adoption. This gives you a chance to see if the animal might be a good fit, and also to introduce them to your other animals. Just like we don’t expect all humans to get along, we expect the same for animals.

All our adoptions tend to be local, but we have connections all over QLD so are more than happy to consider all serious adoption enquiries. A house/yard check will be done if we can get a local member (if adoption enquiry is not Rockhampton based) to assist.

All our animals have a two week trial period. This gives your new addition time to settle into your family life and to give you a chance to ensure they are exactly what you want. If they are not settling in then we will arrange to take them back into care and you will be refunded the adoption fee. If after the two weeks they are exactly what you dreamed then we will send you all their paperwork including sterilisation certificate, vaccination certificate and microchip transfer form.

Please note that we will be treating any potential adoption with the upmost care as the animals safety and welfare is our number one priority.
